WHAT IS THE SPOKESGROUP?
- We raise money each year to buy new bikes and helmets for needy children in the Charlotte area. More than ever, bike riding remains one of the healthiest and safest ways for a child to get exercise in the open air and all while social distancing.
- The bikes are given to the parents or caregivers who then give them to their children for Christmas. This approach enables them to experience the pleasure and pride of providing a valued gift to their child.
- 100% of every dollar buys bikes and helmets.
- In 29 years, we have provided more than 59,250 bikes. Each bike and helmet cost about $125~ but we appreciate any donation amount.
- We are a BBB “Accredited Charity” and a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.
- Thanks so much to all of you that have donated in the past!!
In 2024 we sent 150 bikes to Western NC to help kids affected by Helene. What an honor and joy to do so!

100 cents of EVERY dollar ever raised by the Spokesgroup has purchased bikes and helmets. You can donate with confidence that you gift will be used for bikes and helmets.

Each gift of $125 enables us to buy a brand new high-quality bicycle and a helmet. Donations come from individuals, companies and organizations throughout the Charlotte region..

2017 Mission for Bikes
Iveth Gonzalez spun a roulette wheel and made a mini sign of the cross Monday morning at the Salvation Army Christmas Bureau, and seconds later her prayer came true: A new bike for her 12-year-old son, Diego.
Davidson “Santa” Gives Needy Kids The Wheels to Roll
One of the most generous Santas around lives in Davidson. How generous? This year Andy Beard and his Spokes Groups charity will need to hire a sleigh that can hold 2,075 bicycles for children with needy families!
24 Hours of Booty
Team Spokes Group, sponsored by none other than The Spokes Group, participated in the 24 Hours of Booty event in Charlotte, and despite the 100 degree temps, rode over 1000 miles as a team in 24 hours to raise money for Cancer research! It was an amazing event
